WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A CTE CONCENTRATOR
If you are selected as a WorkKeys Concentrator, you have completed a group of CTE, CCP, and/or AP courses that satisfy a "Career Cluster Pathway". Congrats! This is a huge accomplishment! There are 16 Career Clusters, each cluster represents an area of industry (STEM, Manufacturing, Architecture, Hospitality, Health Science, and more). At Butler High School we have many course options that will help you on your way to ANY of the 16 Career Clusters. Students can choose a Career Pathway your 8th grade year during registration. This will allow you to become a part of our CTE concentrator class!
CCP and WORKKEYS
Students can complete a pathway in multiple ways, one of those ways is to explore our Career and College Promise Program (CCP). Our CCP courses offer students college course work and help achieve both college and high school credit while completing their Career Cluster Pathway. Many of the CCP courses are included in our Career Clusters and can help you become a WorkKeys Concentrator.
ACT WORKKEYS
"ACT WorkKeys is a job skills assessment system measuring “real world” skills that employers believe are critical to job success. These skills are valuable for any occupation being considered and at any level of education." (Source: http://www.ncpublicschools.org/accountability/act/)
In the 2012-2013 academic year, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) incorporated the ACT WorkKeys assessment into the curriculum as an accountability measure. All North Carolina high school seniors who are identified as Career and Technical Education (CTE) concentrators must take the assessment. A student is considered a CTE concentrator if they complete a four-course CTE sequence prior to graduation. The ACT WorkKeys assesses career readiness skills and may be recognized as an industry credential. State data reports can be accessed at: http://www.ncpublicschools.org/accountability/act/
